There are over 92,000 senior citizens in Placer County. Statistics show that up to 20,000 of them are homebound – without the physical means to access healthcare, nearby family or a grocery store. Without adequate nutrition, many of these seniors will succumb to current or impending health issues such as diabetes, hypertension or depression.
Due to economic hardship or physical disability, many seniors are permanently homebound and require meals delivered to their homes. During inclement weather, after a hospital stay, or because of a lack of transportation, some seniors find themselves temporarily without the means to run personal errands or get to the grocery store.
In either scenario, MyMeals can help. Through the program, friendly, pre-screen volunteers deliver meals that are prepared to meet senior nutrition guidelines. Deliveries are available Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, and subsidies may be available for some subscribers.
With a recent expansion in delivery routes, MyMeals is already delivering over 3,500 meals per month and is truly the only hot meal delivery program that is available to any senior in Auburn, Lincoln, Newcastle, Loomis, Granite Bay, Roseville and Rocklin.
