Volunteers Needed!

Local Officials March for Meals

Thank you to our 2017 Community Champions!

As Placer’s elderly population continues to grow, so does the demand for senior services.  We depend on grants, private donations and, most importantly, volunteers to execute the programs that impact these seniors for the better.
“Our mission is to keep our seniors healthy and independent for as long as possible. By getting them to appointments and errands and providing hot meals and companionship,
we are helping them thrive in their later years.  But none of these valuable programs can function without volunteers,” –  Executive Director Jamee Horning
Our current roster of programs provides companionship and interaction, so vital to an elder’s psyche.  Please consider donating your time:

MyRides – transportation to medical appointments and daily errands

MyMeals – delivery of hot meals to homebound seniors

Home Modification & Safety Repair – small but significant handyman projects such as ramp and smoke detector installation

Friendly Visitor – regular visits with a homebound senior

Recreation & Respite – social daycare for seniors with physical or memory impairments
What Our Clients Say

Testimonials from our clients attest to the effectiveness of our programs – “Your MyMeals program is a lifesaver to isolated seniors.  As a caregiver, I signed up one of my clients.  Prior to being on MyMeals, she had lost 15 pounds due to lack of proper nutrition. The daily contact of a meal delivery has been truly lifesaving for her.”

What Our Volunteers Say
Sallysue Stein, a driver for MyMeals, has been a dedicated volunteer for several years.  “The Seniors First staff makes it so easy.  I have it on my weekly calendar, make a quick stop at the Cafe kitchen to pick up the meals and my list of clients, and I’m off,” she says.  “I love zipping around town and knowing I’m brightening someone’s day.”
Ready to Help?
Volunteers create their own schedules and some positions are eligible for mileage reimbursement.  Whether an hour a month or several times per week, we have a need for anyone wanting to make a lasting difference in our community.
