Aghavni moving in to her new kitchen

Ninety-one-year-old Aghavni Davis is like many seniors living in Placer County. She lives alone, has no close family or friends in the area, and survives on Social Security, SSI and federal housing credits.

Now, losing her hearing and legally blind due to macular degeneration, she requires the daily help of a caregiver to manage her daily routine.

Davis had been living in a low-income senior facility in Auburn until her part-time caregiver, funded by MediCal for just over 4 hours per day, was no longer adequate to ensure her safety. Alone for most of the day and night, she suffered several falls and was unable to safely live independently.
With a low, fixed income, Davis’ housing options were limited and she turned to Seniors First’s Information and Resource Specialist Denise DiMiceli for help. Together, they outlined her needs and concluded that an assisted living facility for low-income seniors was Davis’ only safe option.
Just last week, thanks to assistance finding the right low-income assisted living facility, Davis moved into her new, safe apartment and is grateful for the work of Seniors First on her behalf.

The Amins, ages 72 and 84 and relatively healthy, recently moved to the area and have two wishes for their new apartment – to be affordable on their limited income and in close proximity to their son and his wife in Roseville.

They are now working with DiMiceli to find an affordable one-bedroom apartment in Rocklin and Roseville.
These are just two of the cases that Seniors First’s housing experts encounter on a daily basis.  If you are in need of alternate housing for the senior in your life, contact us.
