Volunteer

Seniors First relies on volunteer support to maintain many of our signature programs and services. Volunteers work side-by-side with Seniors First staff to provide compassionate, quality care and attention to each individual client. Many times our volunteers are the only link a senior has with the community. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to meet most any interest and availability.

Volunteers choose the program that best suits their area of interest, and days, times and location that best fits their personal schedule.

Current Volunteer Needs

Provide regular phone calls to seniors to check on their well-being, provide companionship, and ensure safety, combating loneliness and promoting social connection.

Volunteers act as greeters and assist in serving lunch meals at one of our eight cafes located throughout Placer County. We have cafes in Auburn, Colfax, Rocklin, Lincoln, and Roseville. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Teens may also be accepted as volunteers.

You can make a difference in the life of a senior! Getting adequate nutrition is a serious concern for many seniors. Whether due to financial or physical limitations, it can sometimes be a challenge to purchase and prepare nutritious meals. Seniors First is proud to be the Meals on Wheels provider in Placer County. The Meals on Wheels program is designed to provide seniors with hot lunches and daily social interaction. As a volunteer, you can help local seniors in your area remain healthy and connected while making a positive impact in your community.

Deliver a smile and a hot lunch when you volunteer to deliver a meal to a homebound senior. Volunteers deliver a hot lunch to 5-10 seniors at their homes in a specific area, Monday to Friday, from about 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers can volunteer one day or as many as five days a week and can usually choose their service area near where they live. Deliveries generally take about 1 ½ to 2 hours from approximately 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Volunteers use their own car and have the option of being reimbursed for mileage. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age. Drivers are needed throughout Placer County.

We often need volunteers to assist with some of our programs in our office, located in Auburn.
